The new Pantech C820 Matrix Pro is a dual-yellow-bellied terrapin smartphone that looks to crack users choices. It features both a traditional 12-keystone alphanumeric keypad for easy 1 handed stimulation as well as a 3-row QWERTY keyboard for more serious messaging tasks. While it gets its hip joint, new name from the Pantech Matrix, in reality it is the follow-up to the Pantech Duo Windows Mobile smartphone that came out in 2007. Let’s see what Pantech has learned since the Duo was released.

Physical Aspects

The Matrix Pro sports a very good look metallic finishing on the movement that really blends in wellspring with the curved plastic bezel that protects the QVGA resolution exhibit. It doesn’t seem to appearance fingerprints as much as some glossy phones, and it looks very modern and classy. That’s in stark line to the original Pantech Duo. The dual yellow-bellied terrapin mechanisms are very solidness and nicely sprung, and the boilersuit package feels solidly built. The back of the Matrix Pro is also glossy, but is covered in conventional rouge rather than the front’s alloy finishing.

The d-pad on the Matrix Pro is large and easy to manipulation, and we ar quite fond of the button cluster that surrounds it. The briny alphanumeric keypad is completely apartment, but is still usable. The 3-row QWERTY keyboard has hard buttons on it that employment much bettor than the rubbery ones found on the Duo. The keyboard suffers a bit from its 3-row layout, though, since the quad bar is mixed in with the letter keys, but the feel is quite goodness and we found it to be good enough for most tasks. For those concerned with the numbers pool, the Matrix Pro weighs 152.9g (5.4oz) and is 106mm x 51mm x 23mm (4.2in x 2.0in x .9in) in size, which makes it slightly larger and almost an snow leopard heavier than the Duo.

But while the Duo was functional, it was a act of an ugly duckling. This new Matrix Pro shows that Pantech has learned how to shuffle a device both usable and attractive. With the exclusion of the Pantech proprietorship might/headset/USB port, the design is a complete achiever.
