Hands on with the Samsung Monte at MWC!
Amidst the flourish of the functionary launching of Samsung’s first Bada phone, the gorgeous Samsung Wave, it was perhaps easy to forget that the Korean manufacturer had several other products making their first base functionary pleasure trip at this days Mobile River World Congress. So, we managed to wade through the countless Wave exhibits and trip across the Samsung S5620 Monte. We managed to grab some hands-on time with the Monte, the new starter to Samsung’s midriff tier up lineament phones.
Coming from the Wave, the Samsung Monte is considerably more compact with a 3.0 inch capacitive touchscreen exhibit. The Monte fits snugly into the helping hand and sports a nice curved design which puts both the physical buttons and the touchscreen within reach of your ovolo devising single-handed operation possible, something that can be said for larger touchscreen phones. The exhibit itself is sharp and bright, though we tin’t help but feel somewhat underwhelmed after staring at the incredible Super-AMOLED exhibit on the Wave. Still, using the touchscreen was an enjoyable experience; we weren’t able to test the vane web browser so can’t confirm whether multi-touching volition be enabled at this meter but full general navigation through menus and applications was very smooth and responsive.
The Monte runs Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user port and this incarnation is very similar to any touchscreen Samsung we’ve used in the past year or so. You get triad habitation screens that you can cycle through by swiping from left to right. The habitation screens themselves tin be populated with interactive widgets and at the freighter sits triad ever present tense icons that call option up the briny menu, phone volume and computer keyboard for dialling. Once in the main fare the Monte features three pages of icons which ar navigated with the same sweeping style as the home screens. There really is no surprises here but then, if it ain’t broke, father’t fix it as they say.
In price of apps, you’re limited to Java applications but for what it’s worth, we tried out single of the pre-loaded games which loaded quickly, ran smoothly and proved quite enjoyable. As for features elsewhere, the photographic camera interface proved a carbon copy written matter of Samsung’s previous offerings such as the Tocco Lite. We weren’t able to trial the painting quality, there’s only so much you can capture with a earphone tethered to a rampart, but with a 3.15 Megapixel photographic camera on board, expect the Monte to prove satisfactory rather than revolutionist. At this distributor point we we’re struggling to see where the Monte was expected to fit in Samsung’s line of work up.
Then, glancing down at the specification list we’re reminded that the Monte boasts both HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and it starts to shuffle sense. The stylish design, compact consistency and competitive monetary value point will make this a worthy upgrade to those exploitation the Samsung Tocco Lite or LG Cookie. Expected to launch next calendar month, mouse click here to register for updates and hold an oculus on the blog for more information.
