Nokia announced it has filed claims in the UK High Court, Dusseldorf and Mannheim District Courts in Germany and the District Court of the Hague, Netherlands, alleging that Apple infringes Nokia patents in many of its products sold in these countries, including iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

“These actions add 13 further Nokia patents to the 24 already asserted against Apple in the US International Trade Commission and the Delaware and Wisconsin Federal courts,” said Paul Melin, vice prexy, Intellectual Property at Nokia. “The Nokia inventions protected by these patents include several which enable compelling user experiences. For example, exploitation a wiping motion on a touch screen to navigate content, or enabling access to constantly changing services with an on-gimmick app computer storage, both filed more than ten days before the launch of the iPhone.”

Nokia’s filing in the UK covers 4 Nokia patents related to touching drug user interface, on-device app stores, signal noise suppression and modulator structures.

Nokia’s filing in Dusseldorf, Germany covers 7 Nokia patents related to touching user interface, antenna structures, electronic messaging functionality and chipsets.

Nokia’s filing in Mannheim, Germany covers 5 Nokia patents related to on-device app stores, company ID, exhibit miniature and the integrating of multiple radios.

Nokia’s filing in the Hague, Netherlands covers 2 Nokia patents related to signal randomness suppression and data card functionality.

Nokia is a worldly concern drawing card in the exploitation of handheld gimmick and mobile communication theory technologies, which is also demonstrated by Nokia’s strong patent of invention spot.

You’d think Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s iPad Camera Connection Kit would be locked down to only employment with things like, you know, cameras and whatchamacallit. But, you’d be legal injury. New reports indicate that the Camera Connection Kit deeds wellspring with other peripherals, like USB keyboards, USB headphones/headsets, and even USB microphones.

The iPad’s Camera Connection Kit is essentially an adaptor that allows iPad users to connect a camera to their Apple tablet via USB port and relocation images taken with a photographic camera to the iPad’s Photo Gallery app. The photos are imported in the equivalent weight of 3-megapixel resolutions. That’s a departure from the iPhone, which down feather-samples images to 800 x 600. The iPad volition importation in 2048 x 1536 for images formatted in the 4:3 aspect ratio that many point-and-shoot cameras use, or 2048 x 1364 for images formatted in the 3:2 ratio typical with DSLR cameras. The adapter will also conserve the EXIF information embedded in the digital images.

Seeing as how the iPad already deeds with its the Apple iPad Keyboard Dock through the iPad’s dock connection, it makes sense that the camera adaptor would work with other USB keyboards. You North Korean won’t get the added functionality of the dock itself, but at least you can that old USB keyboard out of the closet and put it to good manipulation.

It’s also goodness to see that the USB photographic camera adapter is compatible with USB headphones, headsets and microphones. That opens the door to using your VoIP headset to shuffle internet phone calls. And, if you manipulation a USB headset with a digital signaling mainframe to clean and jerk up the audio, call quality should be stellar.

Check out the video recording below to see the iPad Camera Connection Kit in action.

AT&ere;T (NYSE: T) just reported that they brought on a near-record 2.7 million new radio customers in the shoemaker’s last few months of 2009, which is great and all, but we have to wonder how all those new customers are departure to affect net execution in 2010. Thankfully, AT&ere;T has put together a handy little presentment that includes its plans to improve its 3G voice network performance over the next few months. The US iPhone aircraft carrier has been smash hard with bad press about its 3G network dropping or not connecting calls, but it says that it’s working toward some kind of “execution objective” for its NYC and San Francisco markets.

In both the SF and NYC markets, AT&T says that they’ve managed to improved 3G Voice execution for triplet consecutive months. The carrier is apparently aiming to sports meeting a execution objective end that they father’t pain in the neck to define, but it’s distillery reassuring to hear that they’re retention an oculus on part caliber issues. The most dramatic betterment comes in the Manhattan area, as you can see from the graph above.

Nationwide, AT&T has improved 3G voice performance some twenty-two throughout 2009, with a twenty-five reduction in 3G blocked calls (calls that never get connected), and a 22% simplification in dropped 3G calls compared to 2008.

And, now that AT&ere;T is officially the US data provider for the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPad, AT&ere;T has a draw of employment to do to shoring up its information network for another wave of data-hungry customers clawing for a firearm of AT&T’s 3G net. To that end, the next 90 years should see significant improvements in the SF and NYC markets, thanks to “projects” that ar under means.
